“There is a growing emphasis on the teaching of “values” in the undergraduate curriculum, even in the more traditionally “nuts and bolts” majors such as computer science. One major technique that is being employed in the teaching of values is the scenario, a short anecdote that illustrates some ethical issue. The student is expected to analyze this scenario in order to identify the issue(s) involved, thus gaining insight into what is considered to be ethical behavior. This paper provides a methodology for analyzing such scenarios.”
