In this paper, Greg Walters attempts to answer the question, “What moral contribution, if any, can Catholic social teaching make toward recent policy discussions concerning access to the Canadian information highway?” In answering this question, Walters “briefly survey[s] the recent history of Canadian government policy initiatives on access and the information highway. In turn, I highlight elements of Catholic teaching on the means of social communications with a view to the moral values operative therein. In the third and final section of the paper, I present three challenges to Catholic moral theological reflection on information technologies.”
