In this paper, Jane Robinett explores the security options for open network systems. Providing a secure structure for these systems is a balancing act between preserving the positive aspects of the network and protecting the network owner and users. “. . . such systems are increasing vulnerable to accident, mischief and malicious intent. The question of how to protect such systems and who should assume responsibility for system security is one that needs the careful, critical attention.”
